A Small Girl from a Big State

Welcome! I'm Kayla Bush.

Growing up, I was lucky enough to witness a medley of theatrical performances around Texas. As a native Wacoan, the performances closest to home stuck with me the most. Notably, the work produced by Baylor University Theatre. In a full-circle moment, I've found myself on the other side of the footlights as I wrap up my education at Baylor and prepare to walk the stage in May 2024 with a double major in Theatre Arts and Professional Writing & Rhetoric.

To me, theatre has always had a remarkable ability to shift how I engage with the world. The me that exists after a show closes is never the same me that started memorizing the lines. Most importantly, though, theatre gave me a voice. My hope is that others can experience the same joy and validation that I've found in the theatre.

When I’m not rehearsing, I’m out exploring my newfound interest in dramaturgy (the perfect blend of my two majors!) and brewing tea.
